Summer Enrichment
The summer program uses hands-on, project-based activities that make learning fun. Professional teachers from public and private school integrate reading, writing, math, and science into a them selected for the six-week session, late June to early August. Students also attend classes in art, computers, and music in addition to learning how to swim. Weekly cultural field trips round out the Horizons experience.
Year-Round Connections
Students participate in community service projects, student/family events, and have access to tutors. Beginning in 2007, Horizons plans to pilot monthly Saturday classes during the school year.
Parent Connection
The Parent Connection encourages students' parents to become involved in their child's education. The Parents' Council is a networking vehicle for Horizons parents to meet and share ideas and concerns about the program. Guest speakers address various topics of interest such as parenting a middle-school student and current community issues.
