Our Goals

Learning for both parent and child occurs over time and is optimized when they participate in Horizons over multiple consecutive years. Once a student is referred by their teacher and accepted into the program, every effort is made to retain that student year after year.

Our Programs text

The Parenting Connection increases parents' awareness of their child's educational needs and experiences. It facilitates communication between Horizons' parents and the program. The Parents' Council offers leadership and networking opportunities for participants.

Parenting Connections Elements:

  • Parent/Student Activities, Educational Workshops & Cultural Performances
  • Parents' Council Meetings:
    • Representatives from the Parents' Council serve on the Horizons' Board of Directors.
  • Fundraising Events:
    • The Kermes Festival features foods from Latin American countries and children's activities.
