Our Programs text

Horizons Atlanta had a 92% student return rate in 2005.

The Yale University Center for Child Development and Social Policy Development provides Horizons National and all its affiliates independent evaluations showing improvement in students'academic performance, social skills, and self-esteem.

Immediate Impacts:Horizons students thrive in a safe, nurturing environment for six weeks during the summer where they are challenged academically, socially, and athletically.

Life-long Changes:Horizons students show improvement in attendance rates, oral language skills, attitudes about learning, and self-esteem. Most Horizons students attend the program for nine consecutive summers, from kindergarten through eighth grade.

Parents and The Family benefit from the support of other parents and workshops on topics of interest to them. Horizons' siblings benefit from the increased value on education within their family, Horizons family activities, and from the positive role models of older brothers and sisters.

Teachers are able to use some of the innovative learning activities employed at Horizons in their school-year classrooms. Small classes, experiential learning, and an emphasis on creativity helps teachers reconnect to the joy of teaching.

Volunteers Corporate groups, retired persons, members of diverse faith communities, high school students and all volunteers are able to learn about diverse cultures from the students, their families and guest presenters. Volunteers gain a greater sense of community.

The Community benefits from students being engaged in supervised, positive summer enrichment activities.
